Merlion's 1st Anniversary celebration planning!

ANNIVERSARY DATE : November 1st, 2011

PLANNED EVENTS

1. ATCed Flights from WMKK/WIII to WSSS (1 ATC each at WMKK and WIII, and 2 at WSSS - 1 GND, 1 APP)
2. The Airshow and BBMF pilots are given first preference to land. After they land, then restart FG in their respective planes (BBMF in their fleet and the airshow team in the 9 Zlin z50lxs)
3. Once all the pilots land, WSSS_APP (Dwayne) gives control to WSSS_GND and gets in a Zlin z50lx.
4. All Zlin z50lx pilots report to WSAP (Paya Lebar Air Force Base)
5. ZLIN001 leads and the others ZLIN002 to ZLIN009 follow according the THIS MAP
6. After the Zlin's first fly-over over runway 02L, they break and rejoin while the BBMF does a fly over in the storches, lancasters etc.
7. Then the Airbus A380s land (from WMKK after the crowd clears) and the Zlins do the second fly over and do the crazy fill-airspace-with-smoke stuff.
8. Then, we all re-start as commercial aircraft and taxi to parking. Preference goes to filling up merlion's domestic terminal (WSSS T3) as that's where the banner will be placed. Here, the 4 A380 pilots will reshuffle according to who's gunna fly the long A380 flights (to LAX, Gatwick, Brisbane and Thambo).... Then pilots who want to leave can leave while merlion has a naming ceremony for the A380s. Then after that, the A380s take off for their first day of service and the others fly where ever they want. But it's recommended that you take off and then quit fg instead of quitting from WSSS.

Fabrizio and Nicholas will be recording in UFOs (and hopefully Oscar too) and Dwayne'll be recording first from ATC view, second from the Zlin and finally again as ATC.

okay, so for the atc , what software we will be using?

I'm thinking Mumble/FGCom for the event speeches, communication etc. but the airshow pilots use Skype.

noooooo not FGcom. Hasn't worked for me for aaaaggeeeeeess.

Mumble then, btw we need a commentator.. MIA0056 Jordan's the Ground Control at WSSS so he'll probably do it but any one interested and NOT involved in anything else?

In today's Zlin Airshow practice, Sebastien Delvaux had to leave before it started, Xiang Guo and Nicholas Koh said they couldn't attend and Danne Vb was banned from his comp... That left me, Anusil Nilu Thorium and Dwayne Gable...

Dwayne was the center pilot (ZLIN01), I was his first left wingman (ZLIN02) and Thorium was his first right wingman (ZLIN06)...

This picture was taken when I paused after we broke formation after a low under 50 ft flyover down runway 02L. Dwayne was supposed to break up (and he did), I was supposed to break left (and I did) and Thorium was supposed to break right... But in the picture, 2 broke left! I wonder why...



And here's another picture... This was taken when I paused after we did the formation loop. It's supposed to be done with 9 pilots but as I said, many didn't/couldn't turn up, so it was just 3.

Everything went well till at the foot of the runway... Thorium slowed down too much (you can see his smoke trail is longer) and Dwayne and I looped... The loop was fine till I lost him at the peak... He pulled up a bit too early and I did a bit too late... But the best part was, thorium stalled before he could reach the top. xD

Today (November 5, 2011), merlion turns a year old. We're also just the 4th airline in FlightGear (after VSA, Atlas and BRT) to last this long.

We've set up a nice event at WSSS including fly-ins, airshows, inaugrations etc.
The event starts with fly-ins from WMKK/WIII. (All airports ATCed) If you'd like to start from WMKK, please report at 1200 UTC and WIII, 1145 UTC.

Make sure you have MUMBLE, a voice over IP client. Our ATCs are provide Voice ATC service using mumble.

1150 UTC : Departures from WIII Start (ATC : Dwayne Gable)
1215 UTC : Departs from WMKK Start (ATC : IceCode/Sam Clancy)
1300 UTC : Arrivals at WSSS Start (APP : Jordan Koppa, GND : Jordan S)
1330 UTC : Runway 20R closes for the show, all remaining pilots redirected to the other runway)
1340 UTC : Zlins take off from WSAP and prepare for the show. (If BBMF comes, they'll take off too from WSAC)
1345 UTC : Zlins Start the shows with a fly-by at WSSS
1345 - 1405 UTC : The Zlin Shos
1410 UTC : The Zlin show Ends and the zlin pilots land/switch planes
1415 - 1445 UTC : A380s land, 2 F-35s and an F-18 escorts and performs solos while a Typhoon Follows and adds some misc stuff.
1445 - 1500 UTC : Speeches / Announcements
1500 - 1510 UTC : A380s depart for our 4 other hubs
1510 UTC : Other planes depart WSSS for airports of their own choice. We'll try to provide ATC service according to airport demand then.
1525 UTC : All expected out of WSSS.

And again, everyone is invited for the event! It'd also be cool if Atlas, BRT and CNA pilots can come in with their callsigns.
